Caliperson's answer was as apt and succinct as any I could imagine, and the following words which she/he quoted point to the bottom line of this issue and provide the only real answer I could have given.

"Q: But is God really the doer of all the actions that I perform?
A: The present difficulty is that man thinks he is the doer. But it is a mistake. It is the higher power which does everything and man is only a tool."

Any questions regarding personal behavior which fail to acknowledge this simple reality can only lead to an endless cycle of further questions and responses, none of which are in any way definitive or conclusive. Besides, "enlightened" people are no more the original and independent cause of their actions than are "unenlightened" people. There may be some forms of behavior that are, statistically speaking across the board, more prevalent in one category of individual than another, but to speak of absolutes here is to say, in effect, that God's ability to improvise in this regard is constrained by human ideas of propriety.
